Leaving for my first trip to Switzerland in a week and looking to book some last minute excursions via get your guide, viator, or other local organizations as I find they always make my trips more memorable and less stressful. Are there any guided activities or tours that you all thought were worth doing in the following areas (or any that turned out not to be worth it)? Or just anything that was worth doing/seeing on your own or hikes that weren't too difficult? Definitely planning on doing the North Face trail!
I will be visiting the following areas: Geneva, Rolle, Bern, Luzern, Mürren/lauterbrunnen area, and Bourg-en- lavaux.
I was considering a day trip to Yvoire from Rolle or Geneva if I have time. Has anyone attempted this? If so, how was it?
We stopped by the Tourist Info office at the train station in Luzern to schedule one of their walking tours. It was a good intro. They can also advise and sell tickets for transportation on the route recommended in the RS guidebook to Mt Rigi and advise on other excursions based on the weather.
Viator and Get your Guide are third party vendors, and there are many reports here of last minute cancelations, probably because they couldn't get a local company to accept the trip. They take a commission from the local vendor.
Look carefully at the a Viator listing, and you can usually see the local vendor they hope to use. Then contact the local vendor directly.
Have a great trip!
