Switzerland—Isolation reduced to 5 days

For those following the situation in Switzerland, the isolation period has been reduced from 10 to 5 days.

At its meeting today, the Federal Council also decided to reduce the
duration of solitary confinement from ten to five days from tomorrow,
Thursday 13 January. As before, in order to get out of isolation a
person must be symptom-free for at least 48 hours. The cantons may
provide for exceptions to ensure security of supply.

Contact quarantine will also be reduced to five days. It will also be
limited to those who live in the same household or who, similarly,
have regular and close contact with a person who has tested positive.
People who have received the last dose of the vaccine or have
recovered for less than four months are exempt from quarantine. Even
for the quarantine of contacts, the cantons may provide for exceptions
to ensure security of supply.

Items in consultation (to be decided later) include extending the 2G rule for some indoor places until March 31 and shortening the period of validity of COVID certificates from 365 days to 270 days.

Well I hope a 4th booster is approved before July 1 2022….our Best of Switzerland tour starts July 3rd and we are arriving July 1st….we fly home July 15th. That’s 273 days:(. Our last shot was October 15 2021.

It also rules out scanning my French EU Certificate to the Swiss Covid App.

It looks like this may come into effect February 1st and/ but the Covid certification ( eu cert) application may only allow for 3/3 doses…there’s a lot of questions that need answers ie how would someone notate a 4th booster?

Gosh for those of us who went last summer/fall don’t you feel like we threaded the needle on Covid travel? So happy we got our Switzerland trip in then.

I have two trips planned and booked for Switzerland this year—June (all Switzerland) and Sept. (a few days in Switzerland after Austria)—and I’m not worried. As we’ve learned from this past year, the rules are constantly changing.

The Swiss gov. is proposing to extend the covid certificate until March 31st. Anything that might happen after that date is just speculation. We won't know what restrictions, if any, will be in place this summer until we get closer to the summer months. I’ve also learned this past year that there is no point worrying about what I don’t know and can’t control. So, I continue to plan my trips and hope for the best. 😊

All true. I am taking my brother and nephew to England and Jersey for some semi-genealogical travel in early summer or late Spring. Same here, just have to make plans and go with the flow of tests, etc.
