Switzerland in October, please help!

Hi everyone,

We're planning a last-minute trip to Switzerland mid October. We have to be in Zurich by October 24th (approx.), so we would like to spend the other 10 days visiting Lucerne and the Oberland region.

We'll be landing in and leaving from Zurich.

We would like to only have two bases if possible since we have a baby with us. One of the bases will obviously be Zurich because of our commitment. Where do you suggest we stay for our other homebase ? Lucerne ? Lauterbrunnen?

I'm aware that October 21st things will start closing down. Please help us finalize a realistic itinerary for our trip! We would also like to rent a car.

I'd choose Luzern or Interlaken/Unterseen for ease of transport into the mountains. Every mountain lift has different closing times.
Try Stans/Stanserhorn and Pilatus as more likely a longer season.
It all depends on what your goals are!

Update:
Research finds that the Stanserhorn closes Nov 24.
Pilatus - weather dependent, planned Nov 17 (temp closure Oct 5 for snow).
Jungfrau- open 365 days.
Zermatt- curtailed access Nov 1-29 for mantenance.
Pay attention as many towns do not allow car access.
