Hi,
We are two couples planning a 12 day trip to Switzerland in early October. We are considering 2/3 nights in Zurich, 4 nights in Lucerne and possibly 4 nights in Interlaken. Also considering swapping Interlaken for Zermatt. Our plans are just comng together so we are looking for suggestions for places, tours and alternatives to what we are considering. We plan on flying into Zurich and taking the train to Zurich airport for our return flight. Any suggestions or ideas would be welcomed. Thank you
I'd suggest no nights in Zurich- go straight to Lucerne, it's an easy train ride, and Lucerne is much more charming than Zurich.
Also maximize your time in the BO, and sleep in either Murren or Wengen. Interlaken is a commercial transit center. You're going a long way, so actually sleep IN the Alps. No one is ever ready to leave the mountains.
Zermatt takes you out of your way, and the weather is very moody for summit viewing.
Spend your last night in Bern or another Swiss city that's an hour train from the airport.
You're going at a great time of year- enjoy, but secure accommodations asap. Safe travels!
