i want to go back to Switzerland in March for a week to celebrate my birthday. I have been to Geneva, Bern, Zurich, and Luzern before so looking for somewhere new to visit. I can't figure out where to go that isn't going to have snow and busy enough town to explore and can do some day trips from. Any ideas for a nice week in March?
Montreux, Neuchatel, Lausanne, Vevey in French Switzerland would fit the bill nicely.
And be much warmer along Lake Geneva, with STUPENDOUS views of the French Alps opposite!
Day trip to Gruyeres.
It isn't a suggestion of where to go, but if you are going to be here on your actual birthday take a look at what free offers there are. Things like a free ride up a mountain, or first class on a boat are not uncommon. Here are a few I have done on my birthday:
Thunersee and Brienzersee first class

Schilthorn

It can be advertised as "Geburtstagskinder" which made me think it was just for kids, but adults are included in the deal as well. You just need to have ID proving it is your birthday. Just doing a quick internet search will bring up a lot of options.
