Switzerland in 6 days from Geneva

Hello,

We are party of 7 adults (extended family) visiting Switzerland from Boston for the first time. We will be staying in Geneva. I am still reading about the guidebook and our plan is to visit Lucerne, Interlaken, Bern, Lausanne and Zurich. I understand that Swiss Rail is the best way to see the country. Could someone share the experience of help me with the itinerary? Is it doable if we come back every night to Geneva? When I see the map, Geneva seems at a far corner of the country. Any suggestions will be appreciated. We are all into sightseeing. No interest in museum. Thanks!!

I would not stay in Geneva, unless you have business reasons to be there, or Zurich for that matter. Go somewhere you want to be immediately after you get your luggage at the airport, there is a train station right at the airport. It will eat up way too much time and money to return to Geneva every day.

Thanks, Sam. We are staying at someone's house in Geneva but looks like we should stay for a couple of days in central area. Where would you recommend? Thanks!

If you are staying someone's house in Geneva, use that as a base to visit places in eastern Switzerland, like Lausanne, Vevey, Montreux, Gruyeres. Maybe do the Chocolate Train, and Chateau Chillon. The move to the Berner Oberland for a few days, Muerren, Wengen, or Lauterbrunnen.
With all that travel, investigate Swiss rail passes or Half Fare Cards, They are expensive. 2nd class is fine.

Thank you, Sam. We have been debating to change the venue.
My folks want to see Chamonix and MontBloc. I see some day tours on viator. Are they good? We are seven and wondering if we should take a private van to Chamonix. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
