Part of my time in Switzerland will be during the Federal Thanksgiving Day (Sunday, Sept 17) and Monday, the 18th. I read there are many closures during the Sunday holiday and closures around Lausanne on Monday. Monday happens to be the one day I will be in Lausanne. I'm wondering how extensive those closures are. I assume the trains still run. What about the tourist sites around Wengen. Our last full day in Wengen will be that Sunday. Would we still be able to go to Jungfrajoch if the weather is good?
This is not a national holiday.
17th September is a Sunday, Public holidays are treated the same as Sundays. Shops are always closed on Sundays. Public transport runs to a Sunday timetable. A Public holiday on a Sunday is invisible.
18th September is a holiday in Canton Vaud (where Lausanne is), so I expect shops to be closed, and local public transport to run to a Sunday timetable. But national Public Transport (SBB etc.) will run to a normal weekday timetable.
Wengen is in Canton Bern, and would be unaffected.
