Hi everyone, I am new to the forum.
First of all, I would like to apologise as I'm sure this has been asked quite a bit already but I would very much appreciate some advice.
We (3 fully vaccinated adults + 1 child, unvaccinated but under 12 years old) are travelling to Switzerland from the UK for 2 weeks this July. Am I right in thinking that we do not have to take any PCR tests prior to entering the country and subsequently no PCR tests while we are there?
We all have digital COVID certifcated from NHS Scotland which I believe are compatible with the "EU Digital COVID Certificate" (EU DCC)
So, will these digital certificates be accepted? Or is there anything else we need to have?
Many thanks.
Welcome, PJ!
You can check entry restrictions yourself right here https://einreisecheck.admin.ch/check at the official Swiss Government site. As I understand it, vaccinated travelers have no restrictions. Things may change by July so keep an eye on things. You might want to subscribe to the My Switzerland newsletter https://www.myswitzerland.com/en-us/. I get updates from them on occasion. And inspiration.
Hi Laurel, thanks for the quick reply.
I had a look at the link and I'm afraid I'm confused at the 2nd question...(it doesn't take much!)
It says:
*Which of the following statements apply to you?
- I'm a Swiss national.
- I have the right to "freedom of movement".
or I have one of the following documents:
- a residence permit L / B / C / Ci
- a cross-border commuter permit (G permit)
- an FDFA accreditation pass
- a D visa issued by Switzerland
- a passport issued by Switzerland for refugees, stateless persons or for a foreign national
assurance of a residence permit
- a confirmation of notification (UK nationals)*
I am afraid this is all gobbledegook to me. Would I choose the last one as I am a UK national?
It is impossible for us to know if you have a confirmation of notification or not, but if you don't know the answer my guess is that you don't have it.
PJ, The UK notification seems to relate to workers. Click on "Other" and you will be required to attest to your vax status. It goes more smoothly from there.
Perfect, thanks Laurel!
I can't believe I didn't see the option of "other" !!
Seems we will be fine to enter as we are fully vaccinated and that our COVID certificates should be valid in Switzerland, thankfully. However we do need to fill out an 'entry form'.
Do these entry forms need to be filled out online before we go? If so, how long before our holiday should we be doing them?
you can find info. on the entry form and a link to the form here:
Just keep in mind that your trip is so far out that the requirements are likely to be different come the summer. Hopefully, things will be easier by then. Also, there is a validity time-line on the covid certificates. Currently, in Switzerland they are good for 9 months. That will most likely change if a 4th shot is not going to be offered.
Thank you everyone for all your help.
you could always contact the Swiss embassy in London ...
