My daughter and I will be traveling from Paris to Venice and while in Switzerland we would like to take a cable car. What is a good cable car to take that will be on our route. I would love to stay in Switzerland, but we only have 2 days to travel and eventually end up in Florence on the 3rd day. So we thought we would spend the majority of the 2nd day in Venice. We just want to ride a cable car through the mountains.
Where in Switzerland will your route be taking you?
Go to Luzern on the 7:15 TGV from Gare de Lyon to Basel and change to a train to Luzern, arriving shortly after noon. Get a hotel and then go to Pilatus Kulm. Take the short bus ride to Kriens, then board the gondola to Fraekmuentegg, then the cable car to Pilatus Kulm on the mountain top. You can back track or go on the train down from the other side of the mountain to get back to Luzern.
Next morning, take the 9:18 to Arth-Goldau and change to the EC train direct to Venezia S. Lucia, arriving at 3:40 pm.
Thank you! That doesn't seem difficult!
I don't really have a route. We want to end up in Venice. I just thought it would be fun to be able to take a cable car at some point. I wish we had more time so we could stay in Switzerland.
I should also add that there is a hotel there if you want to spend the night.

My favourite cable car in Switzerland is the Schilthornbahn in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. You can do it by public transport, but its a few connections from Paris. Better done by vehicle, in my opinion.
Given your tight timelines, you are probably better served by the earlier recommendation of Mt Pilatus in Luzern, although honestly that's not really in the Alps.
