Switzerland and France

Here is our Itinerary:
Sept 30-Oct 11, 2023; hiking, biking, exploring Cheese and Chocolate factories;
Fly into Zurich - travel to Glarus via St Gallen- stay for 3 days - mainly hiking;
October 3 - travel to Vevey- with a stop in Langnau for a few hours - stay 4 nights;
October 7 - travel to Lyon France for 3 nights;
October 10 - travel to Geneva - stay 2 nights then fly home;
My question are: do most train stations have lockers to leave luggage while we explore - such as St Gallen and Langnau?- Would you choose an 8 day Swiss Travel pass or 15 day - since we will be in Lyon for 3 nights?
Thank you for your help

A 15-day STP would be overkill, since you are in Switzerland for only a few km going from Lyon to Geneva. Many hotels have guest cards that give you free local transport during your stay.

St Gallen will certainly have lockers. Langnau has a left luggage office open during the day.

Thank you Sam for your advice - Can we make the train reservations from Vevey to Lyon on the SBB app?

You do not need reservations. Vevey to Geneva is a regular Swiss train that does not need a reservation and there are 4 trains every hour. Geneva to Lyon is a French TER that does not take reservations.

Best thing to do is probably get the Half Fare Card, as that will give you 50% off on all your Swiss trips, and also on mountain railways and cable cars. In Vevey you will get the Riviera Card which will give you free travel in the immediate surroundings.

Swiss Travel Pass would be overkill.

Vevey to Lyon (and Lyon to Geneva) ar the kind of tickets that are most easily just bought at the station.

Thank you so much for the answers - I have more questions too
Would anyone be able to recommend sheep cheese factory tours - we are open to all regions in Switzerland; Recommended bike tours in Glarus, Vevey, Geneva or in the surrounding areas - plus any wine festivals in the Vevey area

Hi Debbie, I like to cycle a lot, but have not ridden in the areas you are going to. Maybe you already know about the website/app Switzerland Mobility. I use it for hiking and cycling and have found some wonderful biking routes by exploring the information that they provide.
