Switzerland and Austria in June

Hi everyone,
I am from California. I have planned to go to Switzerland and Austria (or other beautiful European country suggested) in June. This is my first time in Europe and also my first time planning the trip for myself and my 2 children. In the past I just took cruise that planned everything for me. However, for the cruise or even Gate 1, they are all sold out. I really don't want to spend a lot of time to find things (hotels, bus, train, restaurant...) since it will take a lot of my time in Europe. Do you have any suggestion for me? Thanks.

More info is needed to be able to help you. How many nights do you plan to spend? How old are your children? What are your interests? Your request seems really open-ended. You are coming up on 4 months before your trip. Planning a trip like this takes time. It can be done, but you need to be making some decisions soon.

My vacation is from June 5 to 17. I have 2 children, 19 and 14 yo. I prefer to see Switzerland and if time is allowed I want to see Austria too. I don't know whether that too much for June 5 to 17? Today I checked tours of Rick Steves's, Gate 1...But they are all sold out. So it looks like if I want to see Switzerland I have to plan everything myself. For Switzerland I would like to see Zurich, Geneva, Interlaken, Bern, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Montreux, Baxel, St. Moritz, Lugano, Zermatt. I know that too many for within that window of time. I will cut it off if I don't have enough time. Thanks.

Some ideas…

Fly into Zurich > Luzern 4 nights (day trip to Bern, Basel and/or Lugano possible) > Wengen 4 Nights (day trip to Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen possible) > Zermatt 2 Nights > Montreux 2 Nights > Fly out of Geneva

Fly into Zurich > Wengen 4 nights > Luzern 3 nights > Innsbruck 2 nights > Salzburg 2 Nights > Fly out of Munich

I have friends who have gone on Europe tours offered by Trafalgar and Globus. You may want to check them out to see if they offer any Switzerland and Austria tours in June.

I have another question. How can I cut down cost to flight from California (LAX) to Zurich (ZRH) and come back to LAX from Geneva? Thanks.
