Hi,
We arrive in Zurich at 1:00 in the afternoon on June 13th. Would you suggest staying in Zurich for a night or taking a train to Lucerne and staying there for a couple of nights before heading to Zermatt?
Thanks,
Cindy

Unless you have some interest in Zurich or were planning on ending in Lucerne, I would recommend heading there on arrival—it’s a short train ride.
Thank you. That is what I was thinking. Is 2 nights enough in Lucerne?
Thanks,
Cindy
If you’re planning to visit the mountain tops— Mt. Rigi, Mt Titlis, Mt. Pilatus —you might want to stay 3 nights in Lucerne.
Out of the 3 mountains, what one would you pick?
Hi Cindy,
3 to 4 nights is ideal to stay in lucerne to explore the city itself, embark in mountain excursions, lake cruises, and visits to small towns. Furthermore, there are chcoclate factories you can visit near Lucerne such as Maison Cailler, and the Swiss Chocolate Adventure.
Best,
Rjean
I would choose MT. Pilatus for the following:
1 .Stunning views: Panoramic views of lakes and mountains, including views of Lucerne
2. Outdoor activities: Hiking, cable cars, mountain railways, tobogganing
3.Cultural experiences: Discover the region's cultural richness
4, Family-friendly: Suitable for children, families, and groups
Go straight to Zermatt (4 hrs) and then unpack and relax…
Well, Zurich Airport has trains directly to Lucerne— it’s a 70-minute train ride.
Zurich to Zermatt is a 3.5-hour train ride.
I would pick Lucerne upon arrival in Switzerland at 1 pm after a transatlantic flight.
I also agree that Mt. Pilatus would be my first choice of mountain tops to visit.
I've been to Zermatt 5 times and each time,I went there directly from Zurich airport. It's not big deal.
Thank you for all of the insight and recommendations.
