Switzerland 2 Weeks

Just starting to plan for next year. Thinking of flying in and out of different cities to save time. Thinking of Basel or Bern and out of Zurich or other way around. Another option would be Paris in or out as well. What areas are not to be missed in your opinion. I have the BO are for sure. I would love any opinions. Thank you.

Basel and Bern are small airports without any direct flights from the US, so you'd be making another connection. How about Geneva / Zurich? I wouldn't want to have to waste a travel day getting to where you want to be from another country. Milan is also a better airport choice than Paris.

The RS guidebook would help you narrow down destinations. My first trip was a circuit Zurich>Luzern>the Engadine area (in the Southeast corner - St Moritz, Samedan)>Zermatt>Lauterbrunnen Valley> Lausanne>Geneva. I was sorry not to get to the Italian-speaking area.

"Milan is also a better airport choice than Paris."

Well, possibly...BUT Paris is always a good idea, hahaha!!

Bern does not have any regular flights at the moment. And many "flights" to Basel actually are trains from Zurich...

So in this case there is not really a point in flying in/out different cities. Switzerland is a small place. What would make sense if you want to add Paris is to fly in to Zurich and out of Paris or vv. and take the train in between.

It would depend on your itinerary other than BO. I flew round trip Zurich for a trip that started in Montreaux and ended in Lucerne. The train system is so fast and convenient, and there are no bad destination in the country, so I'd focus on getting the best flight and go from there.
