I ordered two 8 day Swiss Travel Passes for our trip next September. I purchased them now because of the current 25% off offer. I ordered from Switzerland Travel Centre and then received an email acknowledging the order but no PDF to print the passes with QR CODES. I wrote to Switzerland Travel Centre to ask for the PDFs of the passes and was told they won’t send them until June at the earliest. Is this common??? This seems a very long time to have to wait after purchase. Their reply stated that they don’t issue tickets further than 3 months out. But I’m not trying to buy individual tickets. Just the 8 Day consecutive Travel Passes.
I don't know anything about ordering Swiss passes for use in the distant future, but Google tells me the Switzerland Travel Centre is a subsidiary of the Swiss Federal Railroads, so I would not suspect a scam of some sort.
It is nothing to worry about. The Swiss Travel System is very reliable. If they say their policy is to only send them 3 months ahead, you can count on getting the PDF documents next June.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Check your emails from them carefully , there may be a link ( or links ) to download the PDF's of the passes . I purchased two fifteen day passes for next October and they were attached to the responses I received , after completing the transaction .
I have checked the emails closely. There are no attachments. I am now even more concerned since Steven purchased 2 fifteen day passes for next October and already received the PDFs. Clearly since Steven already received his, the policy cannot be to not send them prior to three months out, as their reply to me stated. What should I do now?
When you purchased the passes , did you check the delivery option to indicate delivery by e-mail ? Also , don't be too concerned . As Lola said , this is a known , legitimate firm , I don't think you have anything to worry about .
Thank you folks. The email containing the passes arrived today. No idea why the hold up but just wanted to add closure to this thread.
Glad to hear your good news ! This could have simply been a delay in processing due to high demand .
Thank you for your update that you'd received your passes. I read this before ordering mine and was a bit concerned. Mine came through right away, so it looks like you may have hit a glitch in the system or something.
Also, I had to cancel my Swiss Passes due to the new travel restrictions. Flights and hotels were seamless, but I had to send an email to SwissPass with details. Which I did, and got a very nice email within a day saying that I had a full refund.
So sorry that you had to cancel your trip, but good to know about the seamless refund, just in case we are still facing shutdowns next Sept (hoping not).
I, too, purchased the Swiss Rail passes this week because of the discount, but upon hearing the new travel restrictions, am seriously considering canceling my plans. Having to purchase a covid certificate and test before, during the trip, and for the return to the US is getting too mentally exhausting.. I spent half my trip last month to Italy worrying that I would test positive (we fortunately did not), but 2 tests in one week hanging over my head? I don't think so. I love Switzerland, but I think it is getting too restrictive to fully enjoy myself, so glad to know there was not a hassle getting a refund for the Travel Passes.
