Swiss Travel pass vs half fare

The more I read about the different passes, the more confused I get. Everyone is very nice to share their experience and advice so hoping you can help with our upcoming June trip. I have done some research and think that the Swiss Travel pass might save us a bit of money.

Arrive Geneva- train to Lausanne 1 night
Train from Lausanne to Paris 3 nights
Train from Paris to Montreux 1 night
Train from Montreux to Lauterbrunnen 3 nights
Train from Lauterbrunnen to Geneva 1 night-fly home next day

We want to visit Schilthorn or Jungfraujoch while in Lauterbrunnen. Would one of the travel passes or half fare cards make sense for this along with our train travel? We are two adults and two kids under age 25. We realize Switzerland is an expensive country to visit but just want to make the smartest decisions with the money we are spending. Also, we know that the Swiss travel passes will not be helpful for our to/from trip to Paris. We are all set with hotels in all destinations. Open to suggestions what other areas are good to visit from Lauterbrunnen.

I would have cut out going all the way to Paris roundtrip for just 3 nights. Stick with a Swiss Half Fare Card. Lausanne and Montreux could be done in one day instead of 2 different stays.

While in Lauterbrunnen, I would enjoy... Lauterbrunnen--just walk along and enjoy viewing the waterfalls. If you go to Jungfrau, that will be a whole day excursion, but you can be up to Schilthorn in minutes and also enjoy Murren that day.
Given your diversion to Paris, I think the half fare card might be the more economical choice (alas, math is not my strong suit)--it does cover the Schilthorn cable car.

I am wondering why you don't fly into Paris and out of Geneva.

Great that you have your lodging set. Did you mention the time of year?

Yes, the eternal debate about which pass is best continues....Switzerland is so organized, yet it throws us into a conundrum over these passes. If it's close in cost, the convenience of the STP wins out for us. Also, we find ourselves using it for more unplanned outings, once we understand what all is covered.

Did you know that various passes go on sale April 15, an additional element for thought?

Another consideration is the additional adventures the passes cover. For example, are you doing boat trips , Chateau Chillon, etc?

Remember your time is valuable, so just make your best decision, and don't rethink it. You have a fantastic trip in your future! Safe travels!
