Swiss Travel pass question

Hi. I am trying to buy our Swiss Travel Pass and am having some issues through the SBB site. It will not allow me to check out and keeps saying "Please Correct this Field--Date of Birth." I have verified and double verified that our DOBs are entered, and in the correct format. The only thing I am wondering if the issue is due to my son, who is 4, and under the listed child age of 6+. I am wondering if the DOB issue is due to his passenger entry, but I read that you have to enter your child's details at the time you buy your ticket in order for them to travel free along with the adult pass. Has anyone encountered this before, or have any advice? If I don't enter a passenger profile for him, am I still able to make reservations on trains for him without him actually having a train pass?

Appreciate any help you can give!

My memory is poor, but I think it came up before, so I'll do a Search here. However, I think it was something crazy like the way the phone number was entered, with or without spaces. However, did you enter the dob in the European mode, not the way we are accustomed in the US?
Or- could you be in the section for Swiss citizens and not foreign travellers?
You can always buy the passes when you land.
Good luck!

What you want is a free Family Card to go with the Swiss Travel Pass(es). You don't have to reserve any Swiss trains, other than the Bernina Express, Glacier Express, Gotthard Panorama Express.

Kids under 4 always travel free, so there is no need to enter your son as a child. Just leave him off.

And you also do not need reservations for trains here, except a handful of scenic ones. Where you do need reservations you can get them without needing a ticket or pass for your son.

If this is all a bit challenging just wait till you are here and buy it then. You do not need to be in possession of a pass (or ticket) when making the reservation.

Children under 5 are free and don’t need anything. What you read about including the child is based on them being 6 or older.

Ok, thank you for the help! Understand I don't need to make reservations for most trains, but Glacier Express and Golden Pass are part of our journey and I will be making reservations for those. So, I will be able to reserve my 4 year old a seat on those trains even though he doesn't technically have a "pass"?

The issue was specifically with DOB, and I double and triple checked I was using the European format, so I have to think it was my son's birthdate causing the issue. Going to try again now!

Thank you!

If you have any problems with the panoramic train reservation, just remember that the regional trains run on the same tracks, same routes, are much less crowded, and require no reservations. We rode the regional trains for the Bernina Express and were quite happy, especially because the windows open, so pix don't have window glass glare.
Our experts here will chime in, but I expect you'll need a seat reservation for your child, for the panoramic trains.
Have a wonderful trip in this beautiful country!

You'll need a seat reservation for the 4yo on the Glacier Express, unless you are fine with him sitting on your lap the whole time. But tickets
, or passes are not even required to make reservations. So you can even reserve the seats now, and get the Swiss Travel Pass once you are here.

Two comments, for others reading here.

The birthdate format on the SBB a website is 05.05.1995, not 05/05/1995.

I am buying Half Fare cards for my son and his wife for our trip, and they need a Family Card included for their 11-year-old twins. At that age, the kids need to be added on the pass by name and birthdate. Even though I entered all birthdates correctly, I was unable to complete the transaction on SBB.ch. There was no error message; it just would not advance to payment. But when I went to Switzerland Travel Centre, the official SBB branch site for visitor passes, there was no problem.
