Hi-I will be going from one night in Zurich to Murren for 3 nights (likely take one of the trains/cable cars up while in Murren) and then to Lake Como /Milan for night 5...would it be worth it to get a Swiss Travel Pass for travel from Zurich to Murren and then around Murren and then one day from Murren to Milan? Essentially just one long day of travel and one half day and then other high mountain transports that are only 50% off?
thanks
Try the half fare card for this trip.
Two Saver Day Passes might cost less. You buy them way in advance for specific dates and train travel ( except for private rail lines) is covered for one entire day. A Saver Day Pass costs from 52CHF for one entire day. ( They start at 29 CHF with a Half-Fare card which costs 120 CHF, so that likely doesn’t pencil out).
You would only then need to pay for the funiculars, gondolas and lifts in the Berner Oberland to get from Lauterbrunnen Valley up to Murren and Wengen. Trips from Lauterbrunnen to Murren cost about CHF 11 to CHF 16.
If you’re looking at the scenic mountain trips like the Schilthorn ( about CHF 85 Roundtrip) or Jungfraujoch ( about CHF 210) then a Berner Oberland Pass or Swiss Travel Pass might be better.
Since Wengen and Muerren are in the GA area, they are covered by the Saver Day Pass. It is lifts above these towns that are not covered.
