We will be in Switzerland for 8 days traveling on the Bernina Express & the Golden Pass. Plus taking the boat excursions in Lucerne and Lake Thun. Also several of the mt rail excursions. Does the Swiss Travel Pass cover all of these or will I also need to purchase the Half Fare Card.
Thanks
Carla
STP and HFC are two different products that do NOT need to be purchased together. Choose 1 or the other. STP covers just about everything in Switzerland at 100%. HFC covers just about everything in Switzerland at 50% discount.
This year, the Flexi version of the Swiss Travel Pass (such as 4 travel days within a month for about $315) can be purchased in combination with a Half Fare Card for about $65 more (total of $380). That's a change from last year, when the Half-Fare features were automatically included for use in between the counted Flexipass travel days.
However, if you are choosing the Consecutive-day version of the pass, such as 8 consecutive days for $400, then you don't need a separate HFC. In this comparison, the 8 consecutive gives you more coverage on all 8 days for about the same price as the option above.
