I purchased a Swiss Travel Pass and was hoping to link it to my SBB account. A customer service number is required. There is no such number on this pdf I received upon purchase. I contacted SBB and the reply I received states that it is not possible to link the paper pass to my account. So all I will have is a piece of paper on which I printed the receipt for my 314 Euro purchase. I am frankly nervous about whether this piece of paper is even legitimate and I’ll have no way to find out until I get to Switzerland. When I scan the QR code on the paper it merely sends me to Google links to SBB topics. Is there any other way for me to verify this paper receipt? Is this all I need as a pass? Is there truly no way to receive an electronic pass on the SBB app?
Who did you purchase the pass from?
There is no way for tourists to link the Swiss Travel Pass to an SBB account.
Who did you purchase the Pass from? You should have received 2 links. One to print the Pass and one to add the Pass to your smart phone’s wallet. All you need to show is the QR code, either from the printed copy or the one on your phone.
Thank you. I do see it is in my iPhone Wallet.
I am having the same issue after buying a Swiss travel pass from Rail Europe. Only able to print out pass and no customer number to link it on the SBB Swiss Pass mobile app. ksb1949 what did you do? Where you able to use in Switzerland with no problem? I am nervous about this being legitimate also and really would like to be able to just have something on my phone to show.
I printed out the tickets and followed the link they sent so that it is in my iPhone wallet. I purchased from the SBB online site. I'm trusting that the "Carrie" who replied above knows of what she speaks and that when I get to Switzerland the Swiss Pass QR code in my iPhone wallet will indeed work. Because when I contacted SBB, they stated (as I quoted above in my question) that only Swiss Nationals can put their passes onto the SBB Mobile App. This sounds fishy to me so I would LOVE to hear from others who can verify this and that my paper printout or QR code in my iPhone Wallet will indeed work.. Thank you for reigniting this post.
I forgot to also say that although I purchased the Passes from the SBB online site, the emails I have received are from

We will be traveling in Sept.
We were in Switzerland September, 2021, and used the STP from our phone wallets almost daily. Once it's in your phone wallet, you don't need to keep cell data turned on to access your Pass. You can also take a screen shot of the QR code and save to pix- works just as well. Nice to print out a few extra hard copies if your phone goes dead.
Safe travels!
Just FYI, the STC (Switzerland Travel Centre) is kind of like the national travel agency for incoming visitors, so that is a legitimate vendor/sales point.
Thank you! Reassuring answers.
We used the pass in 2018 and yes, it’s a printed piece of paper. They check your passport with it each time too.
Thank you for all your replies. We are leaving this Sunday for Zurich and traveling all around Switzerland for 12 days. I did not receive a link from rail Europe to add my pass to my wallet just a pdf attachment to my email. I did email them but have not heard back yet. Hoping that the train ticket station in Zurich can help once we get there if I can’t do this before. We have made a couple copies of our passes and going to keep in separate bags just in case of loss or stolen. I can pull up the QR code on my email but it the fine print specifically says for “print at home” you can’t use it on a screen. I will let you know next week how it goes.
For those considering the Swiss Travel Pass having bought 3 over the last 4 years of trips to Switzerland, it seems less problematic to just buy it when you get there if it is not offered as discounted online. Also as long as you don't lose your receipt after you buy it in person, if you have the bad luck to lose it you can have it reprinted at an SBB office located at most train stations. Moreover, if someone happens to steal a copy from you they would have to have the same name and birthday as you in order to use it as it is only valid with a passport.
stop by the first train station ticket office you see and say, Help!
