Swiss travel pass

We are traveling to Switzerland in November. Landing in Zurich, staying there for one night then the rest of the time in Lauterbrunnen. Would it be overkill to purchase the Swiss travel pass and the Berner Oberland together? We are doing a lot of hiking and want to explore the areas around but don’t want to purchase tickets every time we travel. Thanks for the help!

Swiss Travel Pass and BO pass together is indeed overkill.

First of all, purchasing tickets is not that hard. And you do not need to do it often.
And with the BO pass your public transit usage is already covered in the area. The only tickets you would need are the ones to get to/from Lauterbrunnen. And they are trivially easy to obtain.

So the half fare card and the BO should suffice then? Would we need to purchase tickets then for the Glacier Express?

With the Half Fare Card, yes, at 50% discount. However, the Glacier Express has a mandatory seat reservation fee which is not covered by any pass or discount card. It must be bought separately at https://www.glacierexpress.ch/en/
