swiss travel pass and/or Half fare card

I will travel from Venice to Luzern to start my holiday in Switzerland. From looking at the SBB website it appears I can book the entire journey on their website with or without a half fare card.
but if I purchase the Swiss travel pass - will it cover the portion within Italy or it that another single full fare ticket for the Italian trains?

Swiss Travel Pass does not cover trains in Italy. You pay for the portion from Venice to the Swiss boarder. Put in "G.A. 2nd class" to get the price on the SBB website.

Ah - that was helpful. So data for my spreadsheet (at least on the one time slot I checked)
54 chf for the italian portion with a STP pass
115 chf for the full fare venice to Luzern (but think I've seen others as high as 165 chf)
85 chf with a half fare card
I'm only checking a week or so ahead of current date as I know I can't purchase until 60 days ahead.

Thanks

Looking a week from now, you can get Venice to Luzern at www.trenitalia.com for 79.90 EUR with Super Economy/Smart2 fare. That is nonrefundable with a Frecciarosso to Milan and an EC train to Luzern.

Thanks. I'll keep checking both rail sites. My travels don't start until September.
