Swiss Travel Pass, Again

Oh, I thought I had this figured out and why isn’t this easier than I’m making it. lol. But…. We are going to be in Switzerland for 18 days, Zurich, Appenzel, Zermatt, Wengen & Evian. I thought the STP would be best because of the amount of travel and museums we want to see but it looks like being there for 18 days is making the half fare pass with the OB pass a better deal. I see that kids still ride free with parent with Swiss Half Fare pass.

Pat and Sam, am I looking at this right? Help…..

Is Evian your last stop before heading to the airport? Evian is in France so the Swiss Travel Pass and HFC are not going to work there. So all you need is enough days on the pass to cover the Swiss part, and the 15-day pass might work for that. Especially if you are going to overnight in Zurich before heading to Appenzell. You don’t need to cover travel from the airport in to Zurich with a day on the pass; just buy tickets.

Yes but we’ll be there for 3 nights, so I can use it to get from Wengen to Evian but I won’t be able to use it for a day trip to Gruyère or Chillon or for the museums in Zurich. Grrrrrrr…..I need to look at those costs.

OK, so you probably want to have the Swiss Pass benefits for Chillon and the boat rides across the lake from Evian.

Maybe you could leave off 3 days at the start of your trip? Zurich to Appenzell is only 38 CHF full price. Or are there lots of museums you want to see there too?

How about a STS Flex for 15= travel days? It is only 20 CHF more than the consecutive-day pass. Maybe you have 3 days here and there where you don’t need to use the pass benefits?

I’m thinking the start. Lindt chocolate tour wouldn’t be part of pass perks. Appenzel will be hiking if weather is good and hotel provides tram tickets. Thank you Lola for helping with this!
