Swiss Travel Pass advice

I will be in Switzerland this summer and need help figuring out the Swiss Travel Pass. I land in Zurich early morning July 1 and plan to visit Lucerne, Interlaken Ascona and Geneva through July 9.

Should I do an 8 day pass? Should I buy some single tickets and do a cheaper 6 day pass? How do I know what times the trains run each day to plan my trip accordingly from city to city? Help!

How do I know what times the trains run each day to plan my trip accordingly from city to city? Help!

This shows all the train times. Click through on the red purchase icon to get the real price, whether or not you have the Half Fare Card
and want a point-to-point ticket.

The Half Fare Card for 120 CHF often gives the biggest savings if you have more than 240 CHF of full fare tickets, but you have to buy a ticket before boarding each train that day, not difficult with the app on your smartphone. The Swiss Travel Pass is more convenient as you just board whatever train you want and show your pass when asked.

Thanks! So I just put in a search of Zurich to Lucerne for July 1, 2024. I’m trying to find the earlier departure and it comes up as 13:35 to 14:25. So when I try to proceed and move to the next page for details, the top of the page shows the trip as Zurich HB to Luzern 6:35 to 7:25.

Am I missing something here? Why do the times conflict?

If I were to purchase that option would I be able to get the super saver ticket at CHF 6.80 or do I have to purchase at the CHF 13.50.

If you are landing at Zurich airport on July 1, then you do not want to buy a SuperSaver ticket. If your plane is late and you miss the train, your ticket is worthless as the ticket is good for that particular train only. The price is 6.80 CHF only if you have a Half Fare Card, other wise it is 13.60 CHF. Plus, you want a ticket from Zurich Flughafen, the airport. That ticket is more. The real price from Zurich Flughafen to Luzern is a full fare point-to-point ticket, which is 31 CHF.

Oh that’s super helpful! I was scared there were only 3 options and was starting to rethink my whole itinerary!! I clicked on earlier times and realize there are tons of options.

Maybe I should stick to the 8 day Swiss pass for the flexibility of jumping on a train as I please. Thanks so much for the help!!
