Is the "Swiss travel pass", the same thing as the "Swiss rail pass"? Or are these two different types of passes?
We will be in Switzerland for 9 nights/10 days, in September and want to buy the best pass for riding trains from city to city, as we do not plan on renting a car. We're thinking that the 8 day continuous pass will likely work for us, but I am confused by the different names that I see online for these train passes.
The formal name is the Swiss Travel Pass. It works on buses, boats, trams, and certain cable cars as well as trains.

Thank you very much for the clarification!
In addition to the Swiss Travel Pass that covers the whole country, there are a bunch of other passes covering specific regions. Depending on your itinerary, one of these can be a better deal, if you're focusing mostly on one part of the country.
