Swiss Rail Flex Pass

Hi All ! I'm excited to say I'll be visiting Switzerland in August this year and my plans are to travel from the Zurich airport to Lucerne for 3 days then on to Wengen for 3 days - I know in this journey I will be taking buses and cable cars and gondola likely as well as boat trips on Lake Lucerne - While in Wengen I plan to visit Grindelwald - take train up the Jungfraujoch, pop back to Interlaken to visit and Lauterbrunnen. After this I need to get to Spiez to take train to Milan from which I will continue my journey to Rome -

With all this in mind, I am thinking I need the Swiss travel flex pass - this should do me - what do you think? All in all I will be in Switzerland 7 days and thought the 8 day flex pass which allowed me unlimited travel on 8 selected days would do me - am I thinking about this correctly? Will the Spiez - Milan trip be covered in this pass ??
Thank You !

If you are going to be in Switzerland for 7 days, and traveling 8, you need the Swiss Travel Pass, which is continuous the whole time.
Yes all the trains in Switzerland are covered that go to inhabited locales, and a discount for trains and cable cars that go to tourist spots not normally inhabited. So it is good to Wengen, but only a 25 % discount for Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch. There may be hotels with a temporary population, but not a proper village. Train from Spiez to Milan will be free from Spiez to Domodossola, then you pay the remaining Italian fare to get to Milan.
If you want to go to the Jungfraujoch, it will be cheaper from Wengen, since you get that far free. From Grindelwald you pay the whole way (with the 25% discount).

The Swiss Travel Pass comes in both flexi and consecutive versions, with 8 consecutive days ($380 US) being cheaper than 8 days spread out ($425), so be clear about which one you are buying.

Thank you for the replies! To confirm - Instead of paying as I go (everything individually) what would be easiest and cheapest is to get the continuous Swiss Travel Pass (8 day) Confirming this will cover sbb trains, local buses, cable car & gondolas? but for special tourist scenic trips I may have to pay something extra as with the Jungfraujoch. I would like to visit the Glacier Palace while in Lucerne and according to the directions I looked at (from apt rental agency where I'll be renting while there) it looked like I'll be taking several cable car rides from place to place just to get there - all of this will be covered in the Swiss Travel Pass ? Do I or is it best I get the pass online before I leave or possibly upon arrival at the Zurich airport ?
