Swiss Pass with Berner Oberland Pass

I believe I've decided that going with the Swiss Pass for our family is the best option. We will be traveling by train a fair amount each day over our 10 days in Switzerland. My question is regarding the Berner Oberland pass. It is a little confusing to me. We will be spending 4 nights (3 full days) in BO. I assume we will be exploring the area quite a bit during that time and it is hard to tell exactly what comes with Swiss Pass and what we will just get a discount for and along those lines, which routes the BO pass covers that the Swiss Pass will not. Bottom line is if we get the Swiss Pass and spend that much time in the BO area, does it make sense to also get a BO pass in addition. Thanks!

The Swiss Pass covers you up to Wengen and Murren.
After that, depends on what BO lifts you will be using, and what the weather dictates. Not sure you can predict in advance how the winds will be blowing [pun intended.]
Have a great time in this very beautiful area!

I stayed in Lauterbrunnen last Sept. for 5 nights and we only had the Swiss Travel Pass. Like Pat said, the Pass will cover you up to Murren and Wengen. We used the Pass to get a discount up to Schilthorn, männlichen, and Allmendhubel. I would not recommend a second pass.

Click on these links to get some info. on what is covered and what is discounted.

In the second link, anything with a solid line is covered 100%. Dotted lines provide a discount.

The Swiss Travel Pass will give you a reduction on the Berner Oberland Pass. But so will the Half Fare Card. So if you are intending to make use of local passes the best option for you may well be the Half Fare Card, not the Swiss Travel Pass.

We are looking at the Half Fare and the Berber Oberland. In your case since you will have the Swiss travel pass, I would look into the Top of Europe pass. It will be discounted because of the half fare.
