Swiss Pass Vs Availing tickets in counters

Hello,

We 4 adults will be travelling in France and proceeding to Interlaken/Lucerne by last week of December 2017. After visiting my friend in Nancy (France), plan to hire a CAR and travel to Interlaken, Planning to take a apartment for 5 nights in one place and travel by CAR to Lucerne.

This is my first time with family to Swiss, I plant to visit Jungfrau and one of the other mountain like Titlis or Platus. I am really confused whether swiss pass will be economical or going by car to the nearest location and taking full fare tickets. Please guide me.

I am from India.
Thanks.

A Swiss Travel Pass only gets you a 25% discount on the ROUND TRIP (my emphasis) from Lauterbrunnen to Jungfraujoch. It also gives only a 50% discount for the Engelberg to Titilis and back. Rather than a Swiss Travel Pass, buy a 30-day Half Fare Card for 120 CHF. Then you get a 50% discount on the Jungfraujoch round trip and the Titlis round trip.

Since the round trip ticket price from Lauterbrunnen to Jungfraujoch is 189.60 CHF, and the round trip ticket price for Engelberg to Titlis is 92 CHF, this exceeds the break even point of 240 CHF for getting a Half Fare Card.

So without the Card, you spend 281.60 CHF (189.6+92). With the Card, 260.80 CHF (94.8+46+120).

Don't forget to purchase a Swiss vignette (toll sticker) at the border with Switzerland. 40 CHF cost.

You will probably pay a very, very high drop fee if you pick up a rental car in France and drop it off in Switzerland. I'm not sure whether you are thinking of doing that.

Thanks lot to you.

Plan to hire a car from Nancy and return it at Paris CDG airport.

Will it be convenient to use Car in Interlaken and Lucerne?

Is there any other benefits like cruise tour and museums visit if we get Half card or Swill Pass

No museum admissions, but the Half Fare Card also gives 50% discount on boat rides, bus rides, any public transportation.

Interlaken and Luzern are both small walkable towns. You will not need a car IN them. The centre of Luzern is pedestrianised, you cannot drive there. Check your hotels have parking, many in the centre of towns do not.

You don't need or want a car when traveling in Switzerland. The trains are punctual, clean and take you to the city center where you want to be. Many of the most beautiful places such as the high alpine villages dotted around the Lauterbrunnen Valley are ONLY accessible by trains/gondolas so a car is useless...AND you have to pay to park it while it sits idle.

The advantages having are Swiss Pass can be found here:

Yes, over 500 museums are included as a benefit of the Swiss Pass. The discount to the Jungfrau is 25% from WENGEN to Jungfraujoch...Swiss Pass will get you all the way from Lauterbrunnen up to Wengen for free.
