Swiss pass question; purchasing/forwarding to others

I am getting ready to buy the Swiss Travel Pass (we leave on Sept 5). I've been trying to find the answer to this question. If I purchase a 15 day pass for myself and my husband, can I transfer his purchased pass from my account to him for his apple "wallet"? Does he have to have an SBB account?
Also, when buying on-line, can I also print out the pass as a backup? (I think yes but just want to ask what others do).

I have purchased my Swiss Travel Passes from the Switzerland Travel Center. So, I can’t speak to buying them from SBB.

If you buy from the Switzerland Travel Center, you will be sent an email with a link to print out the Pass and to add the Pass to your apple wallet. You can forward this email to your husband so he can click on the link and add to his apple wallet.

Make sure when you purchase, that one Pass has your info. on it and one has your husband’s info.

Have a great trip!!! Sept. is a fabulous time to be in Switzerland.

He does not need his own SwissPass account. You can purchase both passes on your account and will be able to access them there anytime. I just did this a few weeks ago. I printed out paper copies, and also took a screenshot of the pass with the QR code, then airdropped that to him.

Lola - did you purchase your pass on the SBB site? If not, where did you purchase it?

Carrie - since you bought from the Switzerland Travel center - were you later able to add the pass to your SBB mobile app- do you have a SBB account? I thought If you wanted to upgrade a seat you would need an SBB account. Or is that even necessary?

There’s no need to add the Pass to an SBB account. You just show the QR code—either from the apple wallet or the printed paper—to the conductor. Some train conductors will also want to see your passports. So have those or a photo copy available.

The Pass does not have to be in an SBB account for a seat upgrade. You would just show your Pass and the seat upgrade to the conductor.

Info. on upgrading here:

I do have an SBB account, but like I said, it’s not necessary for the Pass.

I purchased my Passes through the Switzerland Travel Center because they were offering a reduction in price that SBB was not.

Again thank you for your clear reply. I understand now. Not so difficult - just easier when someone can explain the logistics.

Wellll…. Now I’m looking at various on line websites to purchase the 15 day STP. There are varying prices. I searched using one adult over 60, just to see the price. I believe these sites are all good and people pick them for diff reasons, but I wonder why the diff, I am not seeing? Why is RailEurope more?
If I were to go thru the checkout process all the way on the lower cost sites would it add to same as RailEurope?

Price in USD
Rick Steve’s thru RailEurope: $502.50 pp
Swiss.raileurope: $502.50 pp
Switzerland travel center: $484.34
Get.your.guide.com (Swiss Travel Planning): $484.34
SBB website: 429 CHF. converted to USD $484.23

Thank you.

Swiss Travel Center and SBB are the same price (STC is affiliated with SBB and is directed more to visitors rather than Swiss nationals). You are buying directly from the provided. The price you see there is what you get—-nothing is added at the end.

Rail Europe charges more.

Raileurope adds fees, doesn't discount, doesn't show all trains. But some people like it. I don't know why.

Good news update. This morning (the night before we leave for Switzerland), I purchase the STP 15 Days consecutive, for myself and husband.
I used the SwissTravelCentre.com website and it was very simple.
https://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price
During the payment process, I chose a print at home ticket, and and upon payment received an email with the links to the passes within 10 minutes.

Using the links in the email I printed both passes, and downloaded a pass for myself to my wallet. Then I forwarded the email with the link to my husband, and he was able to open the link and download the pass to his wallet.
Note: There were four links in the email. One link each that pointed to pdf passes (one for me, one for husband); and one link each (one for me, one for husband's pass) that led to the ability to download the pass to our apple wallets.

Also of importance - at the checkout it asked if I wanted to pay in CHF, or USD. Based on previous conversations in these forums, I chose to pay in CHF. To that end, when I looked at my VISA bill it definitely was the more cost-savings way to pay. Paying indicating CHF saved me about $47.00.

Thanks for everyone's help on this forum!
