Swiss Pass or half fare?

Hi all...
I’ll be in Switzerland for 10/11 days
I’ll land in Zurich tomorrow (wed)- and then straight to Murren via Lucerne
I’ll be in the BO region for 6 nights. No special Jungfrauajoch or Schilthorn trains. But perhaps a post bus somewhere for a nice drive,,,and trips to Wengen and around for hikes.

Then Thun 2 nights
Bern 2
Geneva 1 - CERN
Onto Annecy

I’m trying to decipher the Swiss pass. And it is only 8 or 14 days, so I’m thinking of flex 8 to get value from it. I can’t figure out how much I might spend in the BO. Not sure if a Swiss pass makes sense

Any tips on how to determine the right pass? Just not having to mess with booking tickets, and some flexibility is worth ~$75-100 to me.

Thanks very much. I know I don’t have all the specifics, but I’m trying to keep some flexibility.

Cheers!

Lift prices can add up, so you're likely to use the pass for those, if you have it. For instance, Muerren to Schilthorn roundtrip costs 82.60 chf or is fully covered by the Swiss Travel Pass (all coverage and discounts are on the 8 counted days only) or half price with the Half-Fare Card. See other fares at sbb.ch or jungfrau.ch.

You will probably have to price it out yourself for what you think you’ll be doing. We had the 15 day pass, but we were traveling around for two weeks. It really was worth it to us for the convenience. Someone who joined us for only a week thought the 1/2 fare card was more economical for her. We were staying in Murren, and we did go up the Schiltorn.

Unfortunately, the only way to figure this out is the get the prices of the transit you are definitely taking and possibly taking, direct from the SBB website, and then compare it with the price you would pay using a Half Fare Card or a Swiss Pass (or any other pass you're looking at, such as the Berner Oberland Pass).

The only shortcut is that a Half Fare Card is 120 CHF, so if you're spending more than 240 CHF on transit, you can't lose. The Half Fare Card is good on anything that moves in the whole country, from local trams all the way up to the Jungfraujoch trip.

Another factor is museums. The Swiss Pass is also a Swiss Museum Pass. Swiss museums being as expensive as many other things in the country, if you're seeing more than a few of these, it can make the Pass a good deal.

A Swiss Pass is also a good hedge against the weather. One rainy day, I decided to go from Lauterbrunnen to the Ballenberg Open Air Museum. My travel (train then bus) and museum admission were fully covered.
