We are taking our twin 12 year old granddaughters for 9 days. We plan to buy the 8 day Swiss Travel Pass and get the grandchildren pass for them. We'll get to Zurich Airport on our own the last day Do Seniors get a discount as well? We are over 71 and 72. We will be 3 nights in Lausanne, 4 in Murren and 2 in Luzern before our flight back from Zurich. What should the total be for the passes? Should the kids carry their own passes? Has anyone done The Chocolate Train from Montreux? Thoughts? We'll have the Rick Steves' book of course! Thanks for any help.

No senior discounts on Swiss Travel Pass. If you get the free Family Card, they will be traveling with you at all times, so you have the card. Here is the website.

Either buy the STP when you arrive in Zurich Airport or buy them now from some place like RailEurope. Not sure if RE will be able to supply the GrandParent's card...probably better just to buy the whole thing when you arrive into the Zurich airport. That way you'll know that what they give you will be the correct thing.
