I thought I've read somewhere and someone told me that if you buy two, 2nd one is cheaper. Is that true? I looked around Swiss travel pass / ticket info sites, but did not find that info. I'm planning to buy 8-day Swiss Pass (2nd class) for one adult and one youth (24-yr old).
Maybe whatever discount they might have for 2nd Pass purchase, it might not apply to my case since I'm not buying two of the same ones?
Looks like Swiss Travel System has eliminated this option for 2015.
oh, no.. not only SF got stronger against USD, the discount is now gone too :(
Thanks for checking, Sam.
Correct, the saverpass discount was eliminated from the Swiss Travel Pass in 2015. Single-traveler prices went down a smidge and youth discounts were added to the flexi-day pass. Current prices for 8 consecutive days are $420 for an adult and $342 for a youth, which is actually a better total than you would have had a year ago for this combo.
oh, thank you very much for checking, Laura.
It's great to know that I will be paying a little less than what I would have for this combo a year ago :)
By the way, I can buy these Swiss Travel Passes any time, right? I mean as long as I buy them before I start using them, right? I will probably buy them before I leave U.S., though, or should I wait until I get there?
You can buy them at any manned Swiss train station (with passport), or the RS org will happily sell them to you in advance.
thank you :)
By the way, the price of Swiss Travel Pass from RS site here is same as what I would pay at Swiss SBB: Ticket Shop?
I had a France-Switzerland pass for me and the wife and yes there was a two-fer discount.
They also had verbiage on the ticket saying that you could use it solo but had to have it in your possession or something to that effect, meaning both parties couldn't travel solo at the same time. IIRC.
Yes, most rail passes still do have a discount for 2 or more people traveling together, but not the Swiss Travel Pass.
Prices should be about the same whether purchasing the Swiss Travel Pass here or in Switzerland. You can preview Swiss prices on the SBB site. These rates are set for the year in Swiss francs but the price in US dollars changes to try to keep up with exchange rates.
Thank you for the info :)
They have also eliminated all the other discounts that used to go with it. Like hotel discounts, free access to some city tours and sites. With no notice to anyone who has already purchased the pass and no updating of their website.
oh... :(
Thanks for the info.
