First, I'd like to thank the people who have replied generously to my post last week. We have decided to use their rail system. So, here's my next question. Does my child (12 years old) gets to travel for free if my wife and I both have a Swiss pass? Thank you all again!

Yes, your own children under age 16 travel free when you request the Swiss Family Card at the same time that you buy your Swiss Pass, whether online or at a train station in Switzerland. See also my reply to your earlier question.
