Swiss or bust?

We have 7 days in Switzerland, 2 days in Milan.

Staying in Zurich (day trips to Lucerne and ? ). Stay in Grindewald. Stay in Geneva. Travel to Milan (day trip to Lake Como). That's all we know.

Any suggestions on itinerary? Traveling with a teen and my husband. A bit overwhelmed with all the information available.
Also, trying to book trains on eurail. Is that the easiest way to travel from city to city?

Skip Zurich. Stay 2 nights in Lucerne—Switzerland’s most beautiful town. Spend the remaining time before departing for Milan in the Berner Oberland— Murren, Wengen, Laterbrunnen or Grindelwald,
Switzerland is all about its outdoor beauty— not its cities,
You likely will want one of the Swiss train passes for this itinerary—-a Swiss Travel Pass, a Jungfrau Pass or a Berner Oberland Pass.

Switzerland has a nationwide mass transit system that is better than most US cities have. Use www.sbb.ch to plan trips and look at prices.

And yes, skip Geneva. With only 5 days stick to two bases. But I would go to the Jungfrau Area first, then Luzern, and then you could make Como your next stop.

Kendo and WengenK have given you great advice.
I'd also recommend staying in Lake Como, not Milan.
When is this trip? How many nights- not days- do you actually have?
Book trains directly, not through Eurail.
Again, Switzerland is about the Alps. No one is ever ready to leave the magnificent Berner Oberland.
Have a wonderful trip.

Absolutely SBB.com using the app on your phone which is very easy. Gives you all the info you need for (as far as I could tell) modes of public transport in Switzerland. Used this last August and again in January, simple even for an idiot American.
