Swiss mountain tickets

After looking at the websites for: Mt. Rigi, Mt Pilatus, Jungfraujosch, First, Schilthorn, schynge
Plate, and other Berner Oberland area trains, lifts, I am uncertain if reservations are required for various lifts, trains, gondolas etc. If not required, Which of these would reservations be advisable? We will have both half fare card and 4 day Berner Oberland Pass. Is it best to purchase these before we depart? Thanks

Based on the places you mentioned, I'm not sure you need both passes and I am not aware of reservations for any lifts, gondolas, etc. Maybe other recent travelers can answer those questions.

The unpredictability of the mountain weather makes pre-purchase inadvisable. Not even sure you can buy some of these in advance, and many don't take reservations.
You don't say how long you're in the BO to justify the BO Pass, or where you're staying. Also, what time of year?
Have a great time in this beautiful country!

You need to look at each mountain lift or train separately. In the past, reservations were only necessary for large groups, not individuals. But I see things have changed a bit.

You can make reservations for a “ guaranteed seat” on the Jungfraubahn above Kleine Scheidegg or Eigergletscher:

https://www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/jungfraujoch-top-of-europe/book-priority-boarding/

And a “priority boarding pass” for a guaranteed departure time on the Schilthorn cable car:

https://schilthorn.ch/en/Infos/Boarding_Pass

I will leave it to you to check the others. In cases where reservations are not possible, it still may be possible to buy tickets in advance to skip the line, but I don’t know how that might work for BO pass holders who do not need a ticket.

Note that making a reservation locks you into a specific date and time, which may not be the best, weather-wise. But if you are using passes and you choose not to go at your reserved time, all you will lose is the cost of the reservation itself.

The Berner Oberland Pass does not include Mt Pilatus or Mt Rigi. They are included on the Tell Pass. For the other mountain lifts you are interested in you need to check the Validity map of the Berner Oberland Pass.
