Swiss Half Fare Card Question

I will be purchasing a Swiss Half Fare Card for my trip to Switzerland. I'm originating in Munich and traveling to Lucerne. Will I be able to book this ticket at half fare even though I'm originating in Germany? Wondering if anyone had experience with a scenario like this. Thanks!

Assume you are taking the EC train from Munich to Zurich, then change to a train to Luzern. Technically, you could be able for a reduction for the section where the train crosses into Switzerland at St Margrethen. When I look at a train for a month from now, bought from SBB, I see a full fare ticket without HFC as 101 CHF. There is a discount ticket including a Munch transport ticket to the Munich Hbf from elsewhere in Munich is 84 CHF, and a completely nonrefundable ticket is 76 CHF. If you have a HFC, the full fare ticket is 74 CHF. You also get half fare for the connection from Zurich to Luzern.

You can also buy the ticket to Zurich for this same train from DB, and they allow you to put in that you have a HFC. Cost with a Swiss HFC is 61.05 EUR. If you ticket all the way to Luzern, total cost is 68.65 EUR. So that is a better deal, for a Flexpreis Europa ticket.
