Swiss Half Fare and Family Card

Since I will be travelling to Lucerne, my Berner Oberland pass won't have much use anymore. In Lucerne, I'm assuming that I only need to buy train and bus tickets for the adults with HFC since my kid has the family card(travel for free)?

Yes that is true, but also, I believe bus transit within Luzern is covered by BoB.
Anything BEYOND Luzern would be purchased with HFC.

Yes.

Swiss Family Card.
The Swiss Family Card enables children aged at least 6 and under 16 to travel free of charge when accompanied by a parent with a valid Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card. The Swiss Family Card is issued free of charge. Simply enter the children you are travelling with under “Add passengers” on SBB.ch during purchase of the Swiss Half Fare Card.

On the area of validity map for the BO pass it shows half price from Luzern to Engelberg (but in your case you have the HFC, so it makes no difference).

No, @wynoka54, the bus routes are in yellow, there are none highlighted in Luzern, but buses are included in the Luzern guest card:

free use of buses and trains (2nd class) within zone 10 (excluding
boat trips). When you first arrive at your accommodation, the
reservation confirmation is accepted as a valid ticket.
