My husband and I will be traveling to Switzerland for the first time at the end of September. We bought a 15 day flex travel pass for first class; I have activated our passes for our arrival dates. My question is: After we activate our pass for a particular day, how, or do we need, to make a reservation for the actual train we plan to take, or just show up?
Also, how do we make a reservation on the scenic trains using our Swiss Travel Pass?
Thank you!
Perhaps the above Search will help.
If you ride the regional trains instead, that use the same tracks, you do not need a reservation, and you have more available times.
Enjoy this beautiful country!
You do not need seat reservations for the trains within Switzerland, apart for some of the named scenic trains. You do that on the dedicated website for the particular scenic train you are taking (Bernina Express, Glacier Express, etc.). If you have trouble finding the right website for the trains you are interested in, we can help.
If you want seat reservations for the regular trains, you can make them for a fee on most IC trains, but not on the regional trains. Use the “seat reservation” button on this page of the SBB website:

I believe it is 5 CHF per reservation.
