What product do you intend to buy? There is no "Swiss flex travel Card". There is however a Swiss Travel Pass Flex. Now for a 12 day trip I would not buy a Flex pass. Just buy a normal pass. You plan on using all the days back to back anyway.

With a pass you only need to make sure it is active. A continuous pass is active for the whole period, with a flex pass you activate the individual days. And that is all you need to do. You do not need to enter an itinerary.

If you travel on the Glacier Express, or in the Panoramic car part of the Bernina Express you need a reservation, and that you get directly from the operator -> www.rhb.ch

I meant Swiss travel pass flex card only. The reason I am planning for that is , may be my lack of understanding of the travel pass. I am staying in every place for two nights before proceeding to next place by train. Thought if I buy the Swiss travel pass I have to take train every day. The local travels by bus or tram do not count. Please clarify the limitations of Swiss travel pass.

Let me clarify for better understanding. I was thinking about flex travel pass compared to regular travel pass as it was saying in the SBB.ch website that for Swiss travel pass you Havel to travel on consecutive days. This consecutive is the confusing word for me.
Day1: land in Zurich and night halt at hotel
Day2: kcal sight seeing including Rhine falls
Day 3: take train to Lucerne
Day4: local sightseeing in Lucerne
Day5: take train to Interlaken
Day6: go to grindenwald and other places around interlaken
Day 7: take golden pass express to Montreux
Day8: local visits in Montreux
Day9: take train to zermatt
Day10: sightseeing at zermatt
Day11: take glacier express to St. Moritz
Day12: sightseeing in St. Moritz
Day 13: take train to Zurich HB
Day14: take flight back home
I thought since I am breaking at each place for one day it is not traveling consecutive days as per the requirement of Swiss travel pass. I would love to get that if I can. Please clarify.

The local travels by bus or tram do not count.

Each time you use the Pass for anything—a tram, a bus, a boat, a train, a museum, to get a discount—it counts as one of your days.

The regular Swiss Travel Pass is good for consecutive days. You don’t necessarily need to travel each of those days. The 15-day regular, non Flex Pass would cover your entire trip. That’s what I would get.

Thanks for your information. But initially you say local bus tram travel does not count as consecutive days. Then in the next sentence you say bus, tram, boat, cable car etc travel count. can you clarify what is the difference between these two statements?
thanks

I was quoting you at the top. :-) You are the one who said buses and trams do not count. I was responding to that.

If you have the Flex Pass, anytime you use it for anything it will count as one of your days. With the regular Pass, you do not need to worry about that, because all your days will be covered. Keep in mind that with either Pass, you still need to purchase tickets for anything not covered at 100%. For example, if you go to Gornergrat while you are in Zermatt, you will go to the ticket counter, show them your pass, and get a discounted ticket.

Now I understand your statement better.I think you mean if I travel by anymore of transportation at a particular place that uses discount it is counted as a day.my question is o a particular day I don't use anything that had a discount but do a city sightseeing using public tram or bus is the regular Swiss travel ass is valid. Sorry for asking too many questions as I don't want to be in trouble after buying the travel pass

I see it was my statement. Sorry about that. So even with break of journey, all travels within the city count as long as my start date to end date is total 15 days. That makes life better as I don't have to worry about activating my travel pass ( if it were flex) everyday of travel.
If anyone in the group would like to add more or provide more education on this you are welcome, before I day I have all info about the Swiss regular travel pass for my proposed trip.
Thanks again for quick response

Since you are going for 14 days total, a 15-day continuous pass is 459 CHF while the 15-day Flex is 479 CHF, so you will actually save money with the continuous pass. The reason the flex is more expensive is that is good for a period of 30 days.
