My husband and I are traveling from St. Moritz to Zermatt on Glacier Express. Staying there a day to try and see Matterhorn and museum in town there. Then to Bern for Paul Klee museum (two nights). From Bern to Basel to catch a flight. I have added up a lot of different ways and the way I'm figuring it we will save money with the pass. Can anybody tell me if this is correct. I know I won't save a lot of money, I'm thinking the convenience will be a part of getting a pass too. I have already figured out the rest of our trip, but, can't decide on Switzerland. I will get the 3 day one.
Thanks for your help.
The pass looks like a good value to me, basically breaking even with buying those 3 tickets in stations. In addition, the pass covers museums, buses, trams, and lake boats that you may use on those same three travel days and also gives you 50% off any transportation during your in-between days. Are you also taking a train from another city or border to St. Moritz that could also be covered by a 4-day Swiss Pass?
Well it may be more convent for you...but I'd add up the costs. Realistically, how many museums can you see in three days? For me the max number is 3 or less in three days--so it may be cheaper to get the 1/2 fare card which is $137 vs. $296. One thing to be aware of with the flexipass: you can't use it to pay 100% of the museum fee on a day you're not traveling...you need to pay 50% of the fee.
