Swiss Dinner Folk Show Entertainment

We will be in Murren, Gimmelwald and Grindelwald Area this summer and would like to find a restaurant with a folk slow or alpine horns, anything folksy. We are there on a Monday and Tuesday night in July. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you !!!

Hi Carol --- noticed you had no responses after 5 days from your post --- I've been to that area, have a little info to offer, and decided to respond so your question wouldn't feel neglected or lonely out there -- and it's a good question, a question like what I would ask.
I was there in Sept. 2015 on a RS tour -- a MY WAY Tour, stayed 3 nights in Lauterbrunnen, which is one mountain stop (by gondola) below Murren.
The quaint and somewhat rustic hotel the tour provided had a nice restaurant, and they did have live Swiss folk music, mostly on weekends as I recall (Thursday/Friday/Sat nights) --- unfortunately, the 3 days we were there were not weekend days, so didn't experience the music show, which I think was a 3 person group.
As far as Murren/Gimmelwald/Grindelwald, they are very small places. Murren is the largest and most colorful --- that's probably your best bet on finding live Swiss folk music in a restaurant, should be at least 1 there with live music.
If you are into walking, there is a nice walking route from Murren to Gimmelwald, no more than 2 hours I recall.
This is the best I can do with info on folk music --- have fun on your trip.

Jim

Murren, as I recall, is about 2000 feet above Lauterbrunnen, the 1st gondola stop

I specifically looked for something like this in Grindelwald when I stayed there for a ski holiday several years ago, and couldn't find anything. I have no idea about the other towns.

I think that's a very interesting question. I've been to this area every year for the last several years, and I've never encountered Swiss Folk Music dinner entertainment. You're more likely to find American Disco tunes playing ;-)

I think you should contact the official Murren Tourism people and ask them.

I'm afraid I don't have any input as to a dinner show - we would enjoy such a thing but our budget usually doesn't run to a restaurant dinner in Switzerland. We're usually economizing because of the extremely high restaurant prices.

I would like to elaborate on a couple of answers given up-thread.

Lauterbrunnen, which is one mountain stop (by gondola) below Murren.

Mürren is reached from Lauterbrunnen either of two ways. Either a bus to Stechelberg and then the Schilthorn Bahn gondola, first stop and change of cabin at Gimmelwald and then second stop at the Gimmelwald end of Mürren. Or, straight up the hill to Mürren BLM it is a gondola, then a train along the cliff edge into Mürren at the sports centre end.

As far as Murren/Gimmelwald/Grindelwald, they are very small places. Murren is the largest and most colorful

Gimmelwald is tiny, no more than a the crossing of two trails, a few farmers and a gondola station. Mürren is quite a lot larger, but still a small village, with shops, a sport centre, churches, restaurants and hotels. Grindelwald is one valley away, quite a lot larger again, and has significant car and bus traffic, whereas the other two are car free.

If you are into walking, there is a nice walking route from Murren to Gimmelwald, no more than 2 hours I recall.

More like about 20-30 minutes in a gentle down hill stroll.

Yes I was wondering how anybody makes the little trek from Murren down to Gimmelwald in 2 hours. I guess if you stop and sit and/or linger along the way you could conceivably spend a couple of hours.
