Hello , My husband & I usually visit the Berner Oberland area every September., specifically Murren / Wengen. This is our happy place, but we like to add another new place when we go.
This year, I planned on adding Bologna Italy for 3 days. Now , I’m wondering if we would be spending too much time on train travel. We were thinking of traveling from Bologna to Lauterbrunnen but it seems to be 7 hrs . Has anyone done this ? I was hoping to find a faster train . As an alternative, I’m wondering if I should save Bologna for another time , & maybe spend a few days in Ticino area of Switzerland
Airfare already booked , flying in & out of Zurich
Thanks for any thoughts on this . Trip is 7 nights ( 4 in Murren area)

There's no quick way to Bologna and then all the way back to Zurich by train; given that you have travel to Murren from Zurich airport and then are spending 4 days out of 7 there pick another area.

If you only have 7 nights and you’re in and out of Zurich there is no way I’d go to Bologna. Pick somewhere within 3 hours of Wengen/Murren and within 3 hours of the Zurich airport for such a short trip.
