I would like to buy a Supersaver ticket online for Bern to Zurich going through Basel. Wondering if I can get off in Basel, spend a few hours there, and continue on to Zurich without having to pay again. I believe you can do this with a regular ticket as long as it is in the same day, but what about Supersaver tickets? Buying two separate point to point tickets would be more expensive. Thanks.
Supersaver tickets are for a specific train. You can't get off and catch a later one without paying again. It is the price you pay for convenience.
Don, the route from Bern to Zürich does not go via Basel. Basel is a detour. Whether you buy a normal ticket or a supersaver from Bern to Zürich it is not valid via Basel, only via the shortest route (via Olten).
If you buy a supersaver ticket it is only valid on the train listed on the ticket. They only sell supersaver tickets on trains they know are not going to be full.
But you could buy two supersaver tickets, one Bern to Basel and another later in the day Basel to Zürich then you are OK. Or buy two normal tickets, which are valid on any train.
Where are you heading in Zürich? Zürich HB (main station in city centre), or Zürich Flughafen (airport), or some other station? Make sure you buy your ticket to the correct station.
