Super Saver Train Tickets

Can you get super saver tickets from the train station or do you have to buy them in advance?

Must be bought in advance within 30 days, and I believe it is on-line only, or with a smart phone.

If you are talking about the German SparPreis tickets, they have to be purchased online and at least a day before travel, but by that time most or all will probably be gone. These tickets are available for purchase online starting 92 days before the travel date.

I use the supersaver tickets fairly often. For me anyway, I find that if I look for them a day before, I have better luck than if I look well in advance of my trip. I am not sure of the formula they use to release tickets. Maybe if they forecast less passengers in a particular class or route, they release more tickets. I especially like them when I am taking the more popular routes and second class is crowded. In this case, I'll buy the first class supersaver at a discount and have more room.

We just tried to buy the Super Saver Train Tickets on SBB from Basel to Lauterbrunnen, but the site keeps giving us an invalid message for our birth dates. We tried many different combinations including the European date/month/year, but no luck. Any suggestions? Also, we will be traveling from Colmar, France to Mürren, Switzerland. Is the Basel train station - "Basel SBB?"

Basel SBB is correct.

Use a dot (period) in the dates, DD.MM.YYYY or DD.MM.YY, like 17th of July 1947 would be 17.07.1947
