Suggestions on how to travel in Switzerland

Our plans are to be in Switzerland for 6 nights and using only public transportation. We probably will be staying in/near Luzern and in/near Lauterbrunnen taking 1 or 2 trips up to the Alps and visiting some museums. It does not look like the Swisspass is a good value for that short a time.

Besides the Swiss passes are there other options that are a good value?

In addition to the Half Fare Card, look at the Berner Oberland Pass: https://www.regionalpass-berneroberland.ch/en/

Remember that the Half Fare Card gives you 50% off of everything that moves, in all of Switzerland, from local trams to the very expensive ride up the Jungfraujoch. It costs 120 CHF. So, if you're taking more than 240 CHF of transit during your trip, you can't lose.

Is the 4 day Berner Oberland Pass 96 hours or ends at midnight of the 4th day? When does it become valid and/or invalid? If I start using it at noon on day 1, does it become invalid at noon on day 5 or at midnight of day 4?

I'm nearly certain it's based on calendar days. The website consistently refers to "days" rather than "hours".

If it says "days" on the website, it is calendar days, same as other Swiss passes. You can buy it in advance, so you can use it from 00:01 on the first day.
