Suggestions Needed - Bad Weather in Bernese Oberland

Hi everyone,

We're currently in Weggis, having just visited Rigi. Tomorrow (20 Apr) we're scheduled to head to Grindelwald for 4 consecutive nights (April 20-24). Unfortunately, the weather forecast is very dismal for the coming days, predicting heavy snow, rain, and no sunshine. This is especially concerning for our planned visit to Jungfraujoch, which seems unlikely now.

Given that the hotel booking in Grindelwald is non-refundable and quite costly, I'm looking for suggestions on how we might best use our time in the Bernese Oberland, particularly around Grindelwald, under these weather conditions.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

If it's really foul in the mountains - and it should indeed snow down to valley level in Grindelwald - you could head to Bern for the day, it is a lovely city to explore, with covered arcades along many streets.

If you have winter gear with you... Heading up to Kline Scheidegg and having lunch there on a snowy day could be fun. There's even a tobogganing run that is still open up there. Not a good idea if there is zero visibility, though.

Trummelbach Falls on the road between Lauterbrunnen and Steckelberg is the traditional rainy day crowd puller, as is the open air museum near Brienz.

Don't know if either of them are open at this between season time though....

Thanks all for the quick advices!
I believe I have collected the very useful information for consideration - Bern, Brienz, waterfalls, etc.
Seems not a totally dumb choice (hopefully) of staying in Grindelwald :)

When we went up to Schilthorn, it was snowing. Of course there were no views, but it was pretty amazing to be up that high on the mountain under those conditions. We ate lunch in the restaurant to warm up.
