Suggestions for a Long weekend in Switzerland to see some cozy christmas spirit

Hi All,

My husband, myself, and our twin girls (18 months) currently live in Barcelona and are looking to travel somewhere early December for a long weekend we have, most likely Thursday to Sunday. We´d love to see a city or village that does christmas really well - markets, lights, etc. We will most likely fly into Zurich, and then would want a place that´s within 2-3 hours by train from there. Also open to any other places outside of Switzerland. I should add that yes, some people think we´re crazy to travel with 18 month old twins, but we have travelled quite a bit with them and overall love it. We´ll bundle them up and take them anywhere! Thanks in advance!

Lots of places within that range of Zürich airport have Christmas markets.
One of the biggest and best (and oldest) is Strasbourg (about 2½ hours from Zürich airport). It has lots to see apart from the Christmas.

If you have time you could stop off in Basel on the way there or back, it is where you need to change trains anyway.

Colmar is a nice town with a smaller Christmas market. But it is smaller and the station is some distance outside the city centre.
Freiburg-im-Breisgau also ticks all the boxes
