Suggestions for a 9 days Switzerland trip

Hi, hoping to get advice on a 9 days itinerary in Switzerland. Landing and departing early morning from Zurich and hope to get in some sightseeing, winter hiking and 2-3 days of skiing. Any views on either

2 Day Luzern
4 Day Wengen
3 Day Bern

Or a

2 Day Zermatt
4 Day Wengen
3 Day Luzern (with a day trip out to Bern)

Thank you!

Definitely option 2, and if skiing is high on your list, you could spend 3 days in Zermatt and shorten Luzern to 2 days. If you end up not having time for Bern, it's OK - I really like Bern but it is not at its best during winter season.

Thanks all, much appreciated! Option 2 it is :)
For the day trip from Luzern, if we only wanna head out for a day, should we go Bern or Montreaux?

Also, will we find the visit to/hike in Rigi or Pilatus a underwhelming after the BO stay?

Luzern was at the start of our trip, and we did go to Mt. Pilatus which we enjoyed. Had that been at the end of our trip after Wengen, then yes it would have been underwhelming. We did not visit Bern or Montreux, so I can not speak to those places.

Thanks Travelbug79. Anyone has experience for Montreal vs Bern? Is it worth the longer train ride?

Bern is a one hour trip each way from Lucerne, by train. Montreux is over 2 hours each way by train. IMO, Montreux is not a day trip.

What about a 3rd option of 6 nights Wengen and 3 nights lucerne. We are also thinking about this because of a long 3.5 hours train straight from airport to Zermatt plus because we arrive on Christmas eve, the accommodation is almost CHF$1K a night in Zermatt. :(
