Subjective question: Montreaux or Annecy?

Loaded question but here's the facts: later this month am leaving Chamonix and had extra nights before flying out of Zurich; after looking around I settled on Vevey and was looking for to seeing Chillon, Gruyeres, Lavaux wineries and had some night events lined up too.

Airline changed my flight am now departing from Geneva. Vevey is still very do-able but now so is Annecy. I've done a little research and see the appeal. They are both ~one hour from GVA airport (train vs. bus).

I'm good with Vevey- area and can't do it all, but: am I missing that much in Annecy? Appreciate any thoughts, thanks.

I'd rate the Vevey area a bit more highly, the vineyard in particular are extremely scenic. Plus you have it all planned already. And the train to Geneva will be much more comfortable and reliable than the bus from Annecy (there's a lot of traffic around Geneva).

I'm a big fan of Annecy, having stayed there several times. However, we recently visited Chateau Chillon and Gruyeres as part of a brief Switzerland visit, and really enjoyed both places, although I didn't think much of Montreux as we drove though it. But I think the advice to go the Switzerland route is good.
