STP discounts/sale

10 years ago I purchased a 1st class Swiss travel pass on sale in the spring for summer. Does anyone know if this is something they do regularly so I can take advantage of this discount for our trip in September? Also, does STP need to be purchased in advance? Thanks for your help!

There were some good sales a couple of years after Covid. And I think maybe a year or two where you got an extra day.

There is no advantage to purchasing in advance. So, you can wait to see if there will be any discounts offered. That said, I do like to purchase mine from home a few days before I leave so I can print out some copies and allow time for any technical issues.

I do prefer first class as there is more room for luggage and people. If you haven’t been to Switzerland in 10 years, I think you will be surprised how busy it has become.

I have not seen any deals the last few years, and the ones before that were giving you an extra day when you bought a 4-day pass at the normal price. Considering that they just raised the cost of the 30-day Half Fare Card, from 120 CHF to 150 CHF, they do not seem inclined to offer any deals these days.

And you can buy the STP when you get off the plane at the airport train station, or at most other train stations that have ticket offices.

Let's please all agree that if a sale would happen to pop up, we'll let one another know about it. :)

My trip is late August/September. Like Carrie, I'll probably wait until a few days before my trip to order mine so I can print out information just in case.
