I am heading from Zurich to Innsbruck April 19-21 which is Easter weekend 2025. I plan on stopping so I can visit Liechtenstein. Since I will be there Saturday and Easter Sunday and departing Monday morning, any suggestions as to where to lay my head. Options seem to be Buchs, Switzerland, Feldkirch, Austria or Schaan, Liechtenstein. It appears easy enough to get to Vaduz from any of these places and would just like to wander especially on Sunday which may be better if I get accommodations in Vaduz and not have to rely on public transport on Easter Sunday. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Schaan really is not an option as Railjet does not stop there. Buchs makes the most sense as you can get buses to Vaduz there. Be prepared to be underwhelmed by Liechtenstein, which except for a political border, would be just an obscure corner of Switzerland.
Of these Feldkirch is probably the least uninteresting. I have stayed in Schaan and in Buchs (Hilti is one of our customers) and those places are really boring. As they say here "They even take the sidewalks in at night". I would just skip the area altogether and spend more time in Salzburg.
Note that public transit on Easter Sunday will run like on any Sunday. Public transit is not just for the working poor here...
